  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest optional

  • 1 large skillet
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 tongs

Method

  1. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels.
  2. Season the shrimp with salt and black pepper.
  3. Heat butter or olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant.
  5. Add the shrimp in a single layer.
  6. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side, until the shrimp are pink and opaque.
  7. Stir in the lemon juice, lemon zest if using, and red pepper flakes if using.
  8. Remove from the heat and sprinkle with chopped parsley.
  9. Serve warm with lemon wedges if desired.

Notes

Do not overcook the shrimp. They cook quickly and should be pink, opaque, and slightly curled. If using frozen shrimp, thaw completely and pat dry before cooking. Use olive oil instead of butter for a dairy-free version.
