Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless chicken thighs or chicken breasts
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar or lemon juice
  • Red pepper flakes optional
  • Sesame seeds optional
  • Sliced green onion optional

Equipment

  • 1 large skillet
  • 1 mixing bowl

Method

  1. Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Season the chicken with salt, black pepper, and cornstarch.
  3. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the chicken and cook until golden and cooked through.
  5. Add the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant.
  6. Stir in the honey, soy sauce, and vinegar or lemon juice.
  7. Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes, until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken.
  8. Top with red pepper flakes, sesame seeds, or sliced green onion if desired.
  9. Serve warm with rice, noodles, or vegetables.

Notes

Chicken thighs stay juicier, but chicken breasts also work. If the sauce gets too thick, add a small splash of water. For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes or sriracha.
