- Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- Line a baking sheet or baking dish with parchment paper or foil.
- Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels.
- Place the salmon on the prepared pan.
- In a small bowl, stir together olive oil, lemon juice, lemon zest if using, garlic, herbs, salt, and black pepper.
- Spoon or brush the lemon herb mixture over the salmon.
- Add lemon slices on top if desired.
- Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
- Let the salmon rest for 1 to 2 minutes.
- Serve warm with extra herbs and lemon if desired.
Notes
Use salmon fillets of similar thickness so they cook evenly. Do not overbake the salmon; it should flake easily but still look moist in the center. If using frozen salmon, thaw completely and pat dry before baking.
